Instructions for the first Prezi tutorial: Get Started
- Open this wiki at http://acommunication.pbworks.com
- Register with http://prezi.com
- Play the LEARN/turorial GET STARTED
- Fill out the Worksheet on Prezi (here) and give it (or email it) to your teacher
- Create your first Prezi
- (just START one)
- Title it INTRODUCTION
- Send the URL of your Prezi to vstevens@hct.ac.ae
- Send this mail FROM your HCT mail during the first class to get an A
- Send this mail FROM your HCT mail during the second class to get a B
- Send this mail FROM your HCT mail after the second class to get a C

- Download the handout here. The handout has first letter hints to help you fill in the blanks
- Do the second tutorial on Going to the Next Level and complete the worksheet in class
Instructions for your first Prezi presentation, Introduction
- Complete the work on pages 2,, 3, and 4 of your textbook
- Interview your colleague (p. 2)
- Organize the steps (p. 3)
- Listen to the CD to answer the last exercise on p. 3)
- Create your Prezi so that it is similar to the brainstorming mind-map on p.4
Work ON YOUR OWN next class
- complete pages 5 and 6 in Viewpoints
- Use page 7 in your book to complete your first Prezi presentation
- Send an email with the URL of your completed Prezi
- FROM your HCT mail to get an A on the assignment

Introduction
This site will be used to create a course in Academic Communications along the lines of

The course starts on March 18, 2012. There is one class on that day.
What you will need for this course
- A Gmail account so that you can use Google Docs
- An account with Prezi http://prezi.com
- HCT email (run Outlook to let it set up automatically
- Send an email to vstevens@hct.ac.ae when you have it working)
- Make sure your email has a SUBJECT with your name and NC13-class
- In the text of your email write your name, mil ID, and NC13-class, and the link to your first Prezi
- You get an A if you do this by first class of the week, B if by second class, C after that
- Audacity and LAME software (more on this later)
- An account with http://slideshare.net (later)
- Other accounts for some of the other Web 2.0 sites we will use

Present Yourself 2: Viewpoints by Steven Gershon, Cambridge
(sorry, it is not available at NC at start of class March 18)
So today you will visit http://prezi.com/learn/, view the tutorial called "Get Started", and complete the worksheet you are given in class

On April 22 you will have the opportunity to participate in Global Earth Day with recorded presentations (some might be able to participate live, online)
As this course follows the one on academic composition, this phase of the course focuses on student presentation skills.
PowerPoint will be used of course but we start the course with brainstorming and use of Prezi
