1. think of a good survey topic and THREE questions to ask about that top
2. Create and share a Google Doc called YOUR NAME, ID, SURVEY
3. Write your topic and 3 questions in the Google Doc to get teacher feedback

• Your post has a TITLE (add 5 points to any of the above) 

You can EDIT your post to give it a TITLE or correct your grammar or improve it with more sentences.

Your work in Viewpoints

Your work in Viewpoints is due on the day the teacher collects the books from all the class and counts toward 10% of your final mark 

You were instructed to begin this work during your class period in Week 10, and you have the Week 11 class to complete it.

If it's not done by the end of the class, or if you are seen to be copying it, or if you have lent your book for copying, it will not be marked

Your score at the end of Week 11 will be an average of two components

1. Your mark on View-points pages 2-8
2. Your work on pages 20-21; 23-27 in Viewpoints 

Starting on your survey

This is one of your "assessments" that count toward 25% of your final mark in this course.

You were instructed to begin this work during your class period in Week 10, and you have the Week 11 class to complete it.

Your score at the end of Week 11 will be an average of three components

1. Your Introduction Prezi mark
2. Your Earth Day Prezi mark
3. Your mark on the Google Doc you produce for exercise 2A
1. think of a good survey topic and THREE questions to ask about that top
2. Create and share a Google Doc called YOUR NAME, ID, SURVEY
3. Write your topic and 3 questions in the Google Doc to get teacher feedback 

Scoring 

1. You created a Google Doc and shared it with your teacher (30 points) 
2. Your Google Doc is correctly titled YOUR NAME, ID, SURVEY (10 points)  
3. Your Google Doc specifies a topic  (10 points)
4. Write out in a sentence or two what you would like to LEARN in your survey  (10 points)
5. Your Google Doc gives 3 questions that will help you find out what you want to learn (10 points per question)
6. At least two of these questions, in your teacher's opinion, are written so that those surveyed will give you useful information (5 points each) 

It is important that you get a good idea of what makes good survey questions, and you develop ideas by putting them in a Google Doc for teacher feedback

When you return from your sea experience you might have more ideas for asking each other their opinions on what parts of the experience were most useful, enjoyable, difficult, boring, etc.  You can also ask opinions about aspects of life in the UAE, or how that life differs from what you are experiencing now.

Your teacher has tried to model some good survey techniques; for example:

In this survey, I want to learn how the students liked using Prezi, how difficult it was for them, how useful it was, if they liked the mind-map approach, how they compare it to PowerPoint, and whether they think it is useful to other students.  The questions here are all dichotomous (YES/NO; agree/disagree; TRUE/FALSE)

In this survey I want to find out from the students which parts of the courses they have had with me are most useful to them.

Create a survey, collect data in SurveyMonkey or Excel

1. have other teachers, students, friends, or family members complete your survey BETWEEN classes

2. Exercise 2C - You can create visual aids in either Excel or SurveyMonkey (see below)
3. Exercise 2D - You'll make a presentation in PowerPoint (see below)

1. write your TOPIC and at least 3 survey questions from exercise 2A on p.23

1. complete the information for YOUR survey presentation 
2. submit the book BEFORE completing you PowerPoint (PPT) presentation

Make charts from your data

1. In SurveyMonkey you can copy the charts that the web site generates 
2. Otherwise, enter your data into Excel and use the chart wizard to produce a chart with results
